Dixie State soccer: Darian McCloy voted to NSCAA West Region Second Team

Dixie State junior forward Darian McCloy was voted to the 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Women’s Soccer All-West Region Second Team, which was announced on Thursday.

McCloy (Herriman, Utah/Herriman HS), who was named Pacific West Conference Player of the Year and earned first team all-PacWest honors, finished the season as the PacWest's leading goal scorer (12) and was second overall in total points (26). She accounted for 12 of DSU's 27 goals on the year with a school-record five game-winning goals to her credit, including the Trailblazers’ final goal of the year in their dramatic 2-1 overtime home win over California Baptist on Nov. 5.

In addition to the NSCAA recognition, McCloy was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association Women’s Soccer All-West Region first team and earned Second Team Academic All-America honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Dixie State wrapped up its 2016 regular season with an 11-7-0 overall record and finished in a tie for third place in the PacWest standings at 9-4-0 (27 points).
