GREEN RIVER, Emery County — A reward is being offered after police say someone stole 27 iPads, a Kindle and a car from Book Cliff Elementary School overnight.
The Emery County Sheriff's Office reported Friday that the tablets and the car were taken from the Green River school, 255 S. Solomon St., sometime during the night. A janitor who arrived Friday morning and noticed things were out of place discovered the theft.
"The iPads and Kindle were used by the students as part of their daily curriculum, and this loss will have great impact on the schoolchildren," the sheriff's office said in a release.
The car was identified as a white 2012 Chevy Impala with school district logos on the doors and the license plate 508875 EX.
Police quickly determined that the building was clear of anyone, but classes were canceled Friday as investigators searched to see if anything else was stolen.
A $2,000 reward has been offered for tips about the theft. Anyone with information is asked to call the Emery County Sheriff's Office at 435-381-2404.
