Four Dixie State football seniors have been selected to play in senior all-star games, including defensive linemen Darius Matthews and Keanu Foki, running back DeJon Coleman and wide receiver Aubrey Reed.

Matthews was selected to participate in the D2 vs. NAIA Challenge on Saturday, Dec. 17, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The game features senior players from the NCAA Division II and NAIA levels. Matthews earned second-team All-RMAC honors in 2016, logging 38 tackles (5.0 for loss), three sacks and two quarterback hurries.

Foki and Coleman both received invitations to participate in Dream Bowl V, which is a senior all-star game for primarily NCAA Division II and III student-athletes, in addition to several Division I FCS players. Former DSU linebacker Robert Metz participated in last season’s Dream Bowl. The game will take place on Monday, Jan. 16, 2016, at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Foki earned first-team All-RMAC honors this year, finishing the season with 45 tackles (10.5 for loss), five quarterback hurries and a forced fumble. Foki also set the DSU single-season sack record with an RMAC-best 7.5 sacks this season.

Coleman earned All-RMAC honorable mention recognition this season, rushing for 873 yards and seven touchdowns to go with another receiving touchdown. Coleman set DSU records in career rushing (1,721 yards), career rushing touchdowns (17) and single-season rushing (873 yards) in 2016.

Reed will play in the College Gridiron Showcase on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at Pennington Field in Bedford, Texas. The event is an all-star game featuring senior players from all college football divisions. Reed led the Trailblazers in receiving in 2016, logging 33 receptions for 538 yards and three touchdowns.

Dixie State finished the 2016 season with a 6-5 overall record and a 6-4 mark in RMAC play, marking the first winning season of the Division II era for the Trailblazers.
