Camila Mendoza, 4, smiles as her mom, Georgina Errguin, shows her a new bike she received during Operation Chimney Drop at James R. Russell Head Start in Salt Lake City on Friday. Each year, Utah Community Action pairs donors with low-income families. Donors — both individuals and businesses — purchase holiday gifts that are then distributed by Utah Community Action’s staff. Donated items this year included winter coats, hats and scarves, clothing and shoes, toys, hygiene essentials, nonperishable and canned food items, books and more. Utah Community Action is a multifaceted agency that helps low-income individuals and families overcome barriers to self-sufficiency.
