WEST VALLEY CITY — One man was killed and two others were injured by gunshots in a Shopko parking lot early Saturday morning.

Police received a call about gunshots at 4850 W. 3500 South and discovered three victims in the parking lot about 4 a.m., according to West Valley police.

Adam Hart, 34, from West Valley was dead. Another adult male was in serious condition, while the third victim suffered a minor injury.

Police say preliminary information indicates the people involved had been attending a party nearby.

The victims, along with others, met in the Shopko parking lot, where an altercation broke out, West Valley police said.

Early information also indicated gang involvement may have played a role in the shooting, police reported.

West Valley Police Lt. Amy Maurer said the shootings remain under investigation.

"We have a car outstanding. All we have is the passenger car," she said.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to call West Valley City Police at 801-840-4000.
