OREM (AP) — Work has begun on the Utah Valley University's new performing arts building.
The Daily Herald reports that UVU broke ground on the Noorda Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday. Staff, donors and faculty scooped ceremonial dirt in the parking lot of the Noorda Theatre.
The new building will include 130,000 square feet of performing and teaching space, a 900-seat concert hall, a 501-seat theater with an orchestra pit, a dance hall and a choral ensemble venue.
The new building is scheduled to be completed in January 2019.
