WASHINGTON — Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, has named legislative director Amber Talley as his chief of staff. Legislative assistant Clay White will take over Talley’s duties.

Talley replaces Fred Ferguson, who recently accepted a position in the private sector with a Utah-based company.

“I have every confidence in Amber and Clay,” Chaffetz said in a prepared statement. “They have each played an integral role in our office and have earned these new responsibilities. Amber’s deep policy knowledge, decisive nature and collaborative approach make her an ideal candidate for the chief of staff role.

"From his early days as an intern in our Provo office, Clay distinguished himself as a hard worker with a quick grasp of complex issues,” the congressman added.

Talley began working as Chaffetz’s legislative director in February 2015 after serving as counsel for the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Before moving to Capitol Hill, Talley worked as a senior associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the firm's tax practice. She received a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and a law degree from Wake Forest.

White first worked for Chaffetz as an intern in his Provo office before working for Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah. He graduated from Utah Valley University with a bachelor’s in political science and is currently pursuing a master’s in public management at Johns Hopkins University.
