When high school athletes try out for teams, they sign a document that says that by trying out for this team, whatever team or sport it may be, they cannot try out for another team or sport that season — whether they make that team or not.
You would think with this being a set rule, that there would be no exceptions, right? Wrong. There are too many high school athletes that try out for a team, don’t make it and somehow they “barely fit in” and are exceptions to the rule. This is not fair to the other athletes that do not make the team. If there is one exception to the rule, everyone should be able to be exceptions as well, not just the athlete who went to another coach begging them to allow the athlete to try out for the team.
It’s time coaches and athletes realize that “no exceptions” means NO EXCEPTIONS.
