Weber State will have its hands full in the first round of the NCAA tournament against Xavier.

Sure, the Musketeers exited the Big East Conference tournament earlier than expected, but it's a team some have picked for a deep tournament run, hence the No. 2 seed. It's the highest seed Xavier has earned in program history, but according to Musketeer guard Myles Davis, his team is looking to make more history this season.

"I'm proud of our guys for what we did in the regular season, and for being able to make history at Xavier, but the thing is that we're not done," Davis said. "We're happy that we're a two seed, but it didn't really matter where we were seeded. We'll enjoy tonight, but then get ready for Weber State."

Xavier didn't know much about the Wildcats on Sunday when the matchup was revealed but it does expect a tough test Friday.

"They're a very good team," Davis said. "They're not a team we're going to overlook. So we'll give them as much attention as we would to everybody else."

The Musketeers are led by sophomore guard Trevon Blueitt, who leads the team with an average of 15.5 points per game.

Xavier has now made 10 of the last 11 NCAA tournament fields and 14 of the last 16. Only nine schools have been selected to at least 10 NCAA tournaments in the last 11 years: Duke, Kansas, Gonzaga, Michigan State and Wisconsin are at 11, while Xavier, Texas, North Carolina and Villanova are at 10.

As for this year, the Musketeers have fared very well against some of the top competition nationally, including a 10-3 record against teams in this year's tournament. Those 10 wins came against Butler, Cincinnati, Dayton, Michigan, Providence, Seton Hall, Southern Cal and Villanova.

"The strides that we've made are visible," said Xavier forward James Farr. "We've come together through tough times."

Xavier will tip off against Weber State Friday at 4:50 MST live on TNT.
