PRICE — An elderly man died Monday after crashing his ATV into a delivery truck about a mile northwest of Price, police said.

Joseph Rukavina, 89, of Price, struck the parked Schwan's grocery truck on 1100 North at 605 West a few minutes after 2 p.m., said Carbon County sheriff's detective Wally Hendricks.

Rukavina suffered severe injuries but was initially revived by first responders, Hendericks said. He was taken to Castleview Hospital in Price, then transported to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, where he later died.

The Schwan's driver was inside a nearby home when the crash occurred. The truck's emergency lights were on, Hendricks said.

Police are still investigating why Rukavina apparently didn't see the parked truck on the side of the road. Nobody else was riding with Rukavina at the time.
