Dixie State sophomore Dane Nelson was named Pacific West Conference Men's Golf Co-Player of the Week on Thursday for his efforts in leading the Storm to a fourth-place showing at the Notre Dame de Namur Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday. The award marks the second time this spring season Nelson has been honored by the league office.
Nelson (6-foot-1; Farmington, Utah/Davis HS) posted his third top-five finish of the 2015-16 season as he placed t-fifth overall at +3 219. He opened the tournament with a 1-under 71, and after a second round 76 (+4), he rebounded for an even-par 72 in Tuesday's final round. He finished third in the field in par-5 scoring and tied for fourth overall in total birdies (11).
Dixie State returns to action this Monday and Tuesday, March 21-22, as the Storm travel to SoCal for the annual UC San Diego Invitational at the San Diego Country Club in nearby Chula Vista, California.
