Governor kicks off 30th annual Scouting for Food event

Gov. Gary Herbert adds a bag of perishable food items to a barrel of donations as Boy Scout Ryan Buhler of Taylorsville's Troop 366 and Ginette Bott, chief development officer for the Utah Food Bank, watch at the Capitol in Salt Lake City on Thursday, March 17, 2016.

Residents are encouraged to support Utah Food Bank’s efforts to “Go Green” by filling any bag or box with nonperishable food items and leaving it on their doorstep, which will be picked up by an army of 55,000 Boy Scouts starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. The food will go to the Utah Food Bank, regional food banks and emergency pantries across the state.
