In a matter of months, Latter-day Saints in Philadelphia will be able to attend a temple within their own city boundaries as opposed to traveling to Washington, D.C., or New York City.

An article in Billy Penn featured the upcoming temple in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and discussed the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the area.

Local church members expressed in the article their feelings of excitement to have a temple of their own.

“Every time I walk by I want to shout (to construction workers), ‘Thank you for building our temple. It’s beautiful,’” resident Jenny Diehl told Billy Penn.

A public open house will be held Aug. 5 through Sept. 3, excluding Sundays. The Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple will be dedicated on Sept. 18.
