Throwback Thursday: Sculptor shares story of statue outside Provo City Center Temple

Visitors to the recently dedicated Provo City Center Temple likely noticed a statue outside the temple of a father and mother teaching a child to walk. Those who attended the temple’s open house may have heard stories of the artwork inside the walls of the temple, but the story of the statue outside was not part of the tour.

In 1995, Dennis Smith, who originally sculpted the statue for the LDS Monument to Women in Nauvoo, Illinois, shared the story behind the sculpture with the Deseret News.
