Utah State sophomore golfer Braxton Miller is tied for eighth place at 5-over 149 following the first two rounds of the UC Irvine-hosted Anteater Invitational held at the El Niguel Country Club on Monday.
Utah State is currently in eighth place in the 10-team field with a 38-over 614 (304-310) and trailing UC Irvine, which is in first place with a 14-over 590 (288-302), as Jacob Schulze of UCI sits on top of the leaderboard with an even-par 144 (71-73). As a team, USU recorded 21 birdies on the day to rank as the third most in the field.
Miller began the tournament by shooting a 1-over 73 during his first round and then carded a 4-over 76 during his second 18 holes Monday afternoon. In all, Miller had a tournament-best 27 pars during the first two rounds and was second overall in the field with his 3.00 stroke average on the par-3s.
Other Aggies to compete in the tournament include junior Eli Rogers, who is tied for 21st place at 8-over 152 (75-77); senior Seokwon Jeon, who is tied for 30th place at 12-over 156 (79-77); junior Tanner Jenson, who is tied for 33rd place at 13-over 157 (77-80) and freshman Keifer Higham, who is tied for 59th place at 22-over 166 (84-82).
Utah State concludes action in the Anteater Invitational with 18 holes on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. PT.
