Utah County holding hazardous waste collection day on April 9

PROVO — The Utah County Health Department is sponsoring a hazardous waste collection day on Saturday, April 9, at the Provo Towne Center’s west parking lot, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Acceptable items are medications, gasoline/fuels, batteries, antifreeze, solvents and paint thinners, pesticides and herbicides, glues and adhesives, fluorescent light bulbs, mercury thermometers, photographic chemicals, electronics (a limit of two per vehicle), smoke detectors, glass bottles and jars, and paper for shredding.

Unacceptable items include containers larger than 5 gallons in size, ammunition, explosives, compressed gas tanks and propane tanks, asbestos materials, PCB-related materials, medical or biological waste, radioactive waste, fire extinguishers, business or commercial waste, construction or demolition materials, tires and gas cans.

Please do not mix wastes. Leave materials in their original containers with labels intact, or mark containers if labels are missing. Be sure all containers are capped or sealed.
