When Prince William showed up as part of an emergency medical team, injured Jim Schembri almost did not recognize the future king of England.
A YouTube video shows a news segment from “Good Morning Britain” in which Schembri talked about the experience.
A falling tree branch knocked Schembri unconscious and left him with a dislocated shoulder and hip. The East Anglian Air Ambulance, an emergency medical service for which Prince William works as a pilot, transported Schembri to the hospital.
“It wasn’t until they were actually loading me into the helicopter,” Schembri said on "Good Morning Britain." “I said, ‘Willsy better not be flying this thing.’ He turned around and said, ‘I’ve been holding your head for the last 30 minutes,’ and then it clicked.”
According to NBC News, Prince William started working with the East Anglian Air Ambulance in July and donates his salary to charity.
