Senior Sam Loggins was selected by the eight league coaches to the All-Western Athletic Conference First Team, while sophomore Mariah Seals was voted second team All-WAC and selected to the All-Defensive team in the Monday morning conference announcement.
Loggins leads the Wolverines in scoring in conference play, averaging 12.4 points per contest in 14 regular season games. She picked up her third double-double of the season in the season finale close loss to Grand Canyon on Saturday with 22 points and 12 rebounds. This is her first career first team all-conference honor.
Seals is the lone Wolverine to start in every contest this season and averages 35.1 minutes in conference play. The sophomore leads the Wolverines in steals, picking up just more than one per contest. This is her first all-conference honor and first all-defensive team honor, however, in the 2014-15 season Seals was selected as the WAC Freshman of the Year.
Topping the conference awards is UTRGV's Shawnte Goff, earning the WAC Player of the Year honor. Joining Goff and Loggins on the first team are NM State's Sasha Weber and Moriah Mack and CSU Bakersfield's Batabe Zempare.
Along with Seals on the second team are GCU's Courtney Hayes and Jessica Gajewski, Seattle U's Taelor Ross and Chicago State's Layne Murphy. Hayes, Mack, Goff and Zempare round out the WAC All-Defensive Team.
Additionally, CSUB's Addi Walters was selected as the Freshman of the Year, and Mark Trakh of New Mexico State repeats as the WAC Coach of the Year. Walters headlines the All-Newcomer Team and is joined by Kaylee Allen (CSU), Anushka Maldonado (UTRGV), Brooke Salas (NMSU) and Dana Jones (GCU).
The UVU women's basketball team travels to the Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Las Vegas where it has earned the No. 4 seed. The Wolverines see UMKC on Wednesday, March 9, at 2 p.m. PT, in the Orleans Arena.
