The Kalamazoo Wings defeated the Utah Grizzlies (32-23-3-2), 5-3, on Tuesday night at Wings Events Center.
Utah finishes its seven games in 12 nights road stretch at 3-3-1-0, with a 2-1-1-0 mark in the last four contests through the last five nights.
The Wings built an early 2-0 lead before Bryan Moore scored on the power-play from Charles Sarault and Alex Krushelnyski to make it 2-1 going to the first intermission.
Kalamazoo added a late power-play goal in the second period to make it 3-1 going to the third.
The Wings added an early goal in the final frame to make it 4-1.
The Grizzlies got back within two as Ryan Hayes’ fifth goal of the season came off a second attempt after Mike Ratchuk clanged a post with 16:06 left in regulation. With the Grizzlies on a power-play, Kalamazoo came back shorthanded to get its three-goal lead back.
Jon Puskar’s seventh of the season made it 5-3 with 6:06 left in the third period, and that would cap the scoring. Kenton Helgesen picked up an assist.
Mark Owuya took the loss in goal for Utah.
The Grizzlies return home Friday and Saturday, March 11-12, to host Colorado.
