CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK — Operating hours at several park facilities have been extended for the summer.

Both the visitor center and the historic Gifford House are now open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the Ripple Rock Nature Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Sunday.

In addition, free ranger-guided programs will be offered at the park starting Sunday, including daily geology talks at 10 a.m. and daily archeology programs at 3 p.m. Nightly programs will be offered at the campground amphitheater, typically 1 hour after sunset.

Other programs at the park will include walks, star-gazing and hikes. Schedules are posted at the visitor center, the Gifford House, the nature center and campground host sites.

The Gifford House, operated by the Capitol Reef Natural History Association, features pioneer history information on display and sells fresh baked pies, breads and pastries.
