“Outbid” was added to the “Survivor” series slogan of “Outwit, Outlast, Outplay” Monday evening during a “Survivor”-themed episode of “The Price is Right.”

Donald “Scott” Johnson, of Farmington, who was wearing an orange “Survivor” bandana, won more than $10,000 in prizes, including a pair of cameras, a barbecue island and designer bags, during Monday’s episode.

For the episode, fans were paired with former “Survivor” castaways, and Johnson was paired with Kelley Wentworth, who had competed on “Survivor: San Juan del Sur” and “Survivor: Cambodia.”

“If I can play with Kelley Wentworth, life made,” Johnson said during the show.

The show includes four contestants called to “come on down” from the audience to bid on an item. The person who bids the amount closest to the item’s actual retail price without going over it wins the item and is then invited to participate in one of the price-guessing games.

After three rounds of bids and games, three contestants then spin a wheel to get as close to $1 as they can without going over the amount to move on to the Showcase Showdown.

The contestants were playing for prizes, and the “Survivor” alumni were playing for charity.

Johnson was the seventh contestant picked, and he overbid on his first try for a hammock and tiki bar.

On the second bidding round, Johnson bid $801 for a pair of action cameras — not going over the retail price of $1,080. The next closest bid was $1,111.

“We couldn’t play a ‘Survivor’ edition without playing a game called Double Cross, could we?” said host Drew Carey with a laugh.

In the game, there were two sets of prizes: a barbecue island that included a minifridge and utensil set, and eight designer handbags.

A series of numbers were on different bars of an X, and contestants had to pick which four numbers in a row of seven on each bar were correct. The bars that highlighted the numbers were synchronized so there was one correct combination.

“And I thought ‘Survivor’ was hard,” Wentworth said.

Johnson and Wentworth picked $4,230 for the handbags and $5,429 for the barbecue island, and they were correct.

During the round of spinning the wheel, each contestant wanted to get as close to $1 as possible without going over. Johnson spun twice, getting a 10 each time and totaling 20 cents.

“On the bright side, do you know how hard that is to do?” Carey said.

“Survivor” host Jeff Probst was waiting with lit torches, and he extinguished Johnson’s torch, saying, “The wheel has spoken.”

A “Big Brother”-themed episode is scheduled for Tuesday evening and a “The Amazing Race”-themed episode is scheduled for Wednesday evening on CBS.
