SOUTH SALT LAKE — A semitrailer carrying a load of pork caught fire Wednesday, causing heavy damage.

The fire occurred while the truck was in a loading dock at 3539 S. 500 West around 1:15 p.m. It caused about $300,000 in combined damage to the truck and pork products, said South Salt Lake Deputy Fire Chief Terry Addison.

The fire originated in the refrigerated trailer, Addison said. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

No buildings or other vehicles were damaged in the blaze.
