Police seek to question others in Salt Lake shooting death

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police are asking for the public's help to find at least three people possibly tied to the killing of a man whose body was found in the passenger seat of a car parked in Cottonwood Heights Friday.

Maurico Martinez, 31, was found dead in an abandoned vehicle in the parking lot of Mountain America Credit Union, 6440 S. 3000 East. But police believe Martinez was shot and killed in a Salt Lake parking lot at 1032 S. Redwood Road.

Jorge Arturo Castanon-Serrano, 35, and Marco Antonio Garcia, 25, have already been arrested for investigation of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery.

Police have described Martinez's killing as a "robbery gone bad." The shooting happened in a large parking lot in an industrial area next to a TNT Trucking School.

Investigators had not released more information about a possible motive as of Wednesday or how all the parties are acquainted.

Salt Lake police detective Greg Wilking said there are numerous businesses with surveillance video cameras in the area. Many of those cameras recorded images of two men whom police now want to talk to. One is a white male in his 40s, about 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing between 190 and 210 pounds. The other is described as either a Polynesian or Hispanic male with long braided hair, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing between 175 and 185 pounds.

Detectives were also looking for Jamie Clarissa George, 34, who is considered a "person of interest" in the case. Police say she is about 5 feet tall, weighs 120 pounds, has a thin build, blond hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with information about the case can call police at 801-799-3000. Anonymous tips can also be sent by text to 274637, using the word "TIPSLCPD."
