PROVO — The body of a missing Provo man was found in a freezer at his home Thursday, and the man's son was later arrested in connection with his death, police said.

Provo police received a call about a missing person from a family member of Marco Carmona, 57, about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Later, in a search of Carmona's home at Leisure Village mobile home park near 1900 West and 450 North, detectives say they found his body in a freezer.

The Carmona's 27-year-old son, Omar Carmona, was booked into the Utah County Jail around 7 p.m. for investigation of murder, theft and obstruction of justice.

“This is obviously an awful tragedy for the family and a shocking circumstance for the community," Provo police officer Nisha King said. "We do want to assure the public that investigators have the only suspect. There is no continuing danger to the public.”

Investigators linked Omar Carmona to his father's death after interviews with him and other family members Thursday.

Police said Omar Carmona had turned off his father's cellphone and had taken money from the man's wallet. The cause of death was under investigation Thursday night.
