RIVERDALE, Weber County — A 55-year-old man was found dead about 7:30 a.m. Thursday in Burch Creek near 4040 Riverdale Road, police say.

It wasn't clear whether the man died from drowning or something else, said Riverdale Police Lt. Casey Warren. There were no immediate indicators of foul play.

The area around the creek has a lot of debris and garbage, Warren said. Several alcohol containers were located, but police didn't know if they were connected in any way to the man. Water in the creek is only 2 to 2 ½ feet deep, according to police.

The man is a transient in the area, Warren said. His name wasn't immediately released pending notification of family members.

A worker at nearby RC Willey Home Furnishings told police there was a man who appeared to be intoxicated walking around in the area Wednesday night, but officials couldn't confirm whether that individual was connected to the case.
