Yesterday, 4,000 people “battled against the heat” to enjoy the David Archuleta concert. Archuleta, an LDS singer and songwriter, performed at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre in Orem. It was the first full show he has ever performed in Utah Valley, according to a post from his Instagram account.

Archuleta sang a variety of songs including both covers and original songs he wrote himself. Before he sang a cover of Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful,” he spoke to the crowd about the importance of music and the ability it has to change lives.

“You can reach the hearts of people that you can’t in any other way. Music is very powerful in the way you use it,” Archuleta said.

The YouTube channel “ShelleyFOD” uploaded a series of videos from the concert. The videos include covers of popular songs such as Lucas Graham’s “7 Years” and R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts.”

Bri Ray, another LDS singer who was featured the final season of American Idol, joined Archuleta. Ray opened the concert for Archuleta, and they sang a cover of “Don’t Give Up” by Peter Gabriel, ft. Kate Bush.

After the concert, Ray tweeted, “The craziest dreams come true every day! I hope you all have amazing ones tonight.”
