In Sandy, the freeway and surrounding businesses are being plagued by panhandlers, many standing on the 2 foot wide cement islands on 6-8 lane highways. How is it possible that this is legal, which Sandy City says it is? Aren't there loitering laws being broken? Aren't there safety issues related to them standing in the middle of a busy street? Some things seems to defy common sense. I believe this is one of them. BTW, if you are giving money to these folks, please consider, instead, giving them a business card for a local charity set up to give aid to "stranded travelers" or "homeless" folks. That would go a long way to helping eliminate the problem.
