The kids are just getting out of school and no doubt you’re busy making plans to fill those summer days. Chances are you won’t start thinking about the upcoming school year until late July to maybe early August. Here are four reasons why you should get a head start and begin thinking about your fall break now.

Fantastic weather

There is something about when the leaves start to change colors and the air gets just a little bit crisper. It’s no question that after a hot summer the cooler weather is a welcome respite.

That’s true for many popular vacation destinations as well, especially southern California. October dips back down to highs in the high 70s/low 80s and lows in the high 50s/low 60s. It’s comfortable 24 hours a day for a fun-in-the-sun vacation! It’s also nice to get a little taste of summer if temps get too low back at home.

Best availability and deals

Generally, the earlier you book a trip, the better deal you’ll get on it because of availability. The most popular hotels at any destination always sell out first. If you wait to book a trip, particularly for UEA or fall break, there’s a good chance your first hotel choice will be sold out, or you’ll at least pay a higher premium.

Hotels will also run specials for early bookings. Get Away Today is known to negotiate things like free nights, free breakfast and free parking at hotels that you’d end up paying with other companies, but of course, those are the hotels that get booked first. Now is a great time to lock-in your hotel for UEA, before everyone else starts thinking about it.

You have even more time to save

If you wait until the last minute to book your vacation, you’re paying for everything at once—hotel, attraction tickets, transportation, food, souvenirs, etc. By booking in advance, you can pay for as much of your trip ahead of time as you’d like.

Some companies require payment for hotel and tickets up front, but others also offer an interest-free layaway option where you make a down payment, giving you until two weeks before travel to pay off the balance of your hotel and tickets. This makes it easier for families to pay a little chunk each month, plus have the benefit of having the bulk of your vacation paid for before you travel. Booking in advance also gives you extra time to save for those expenses that happen while you’re traveling like meals out and souvenirs.

Seasonal trips offer a different experience

Some destinations are similar, no matter the time of year you visit. Others, though, have seasonal themes that are exciting and offer an entirely new experience.

Disneyland and other Disney resorts change their atmosphere depending on the season. Going near Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas will be completely different than the rest of the year. You’ll see different characters and witness a transformation within the parks. In fact, Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is increasingly becoming one of the most popular times of year to visit beginning in mid-September through Halloween. Families can even get tickets for the private Mickey’s Halloween Party held on select nights at Disneyland which includes costumes, trick-or-treating, special Halloween entertainment and access to the attractions.

Whether you take advantage of the offseason for your next vacation or decide to go this summer, book your trip through an organization with great destination offerings, layaway pricing and the expertise to help make your trip magical.
