Scholar All-American recognition was awarded to the BYU men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams by The College of Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America.
The men’s 2015-2016 team qualified with a cumulative GPA of 3.29, and the women’s team followed with a GPA of 3.24.
"It is always an honor have both teams on the Scholar All-American list each year,” BYU coach John Brooks said. "The swimmers and divers are a great example of being a student first."
This CSCAA recognition comes as a result of each team’s classroom performance in the past semester. The team must collectively reach a 3.00 grade point average or better to qualify.
The top members of the swim team contributed with their respective GPAs in order to qualify for this recognition.
The top GPA from the women’s swim team that received All-American recognition was Ali Tippetts-Kottcamp (3.94, exercise science).
The top GPAs from the men’s swim team helped qualify for this recognition: Ryan Sorensen (3.90, mechanical engineering pre-professional), Jordan Tuckfield (3.89, exercise science), Kevin Dreesen (3.79, exercise science), Matt Denkers (3.74, management), Steven Richards (3.73, health science), Rainer Ng (3.71, business strategy), Preston Jenkins (3.71, exercise science), Connor Stirling (3.66 open major) and Luis Ventura (3.54, facilities management)
