SALT LAKE CITY — On Saturday night at Rice-Eccles Stadium, action sports icon and legend Travis Pastrana and Nitro Circus will usher in the next level of action sports competition as the inaugural Nitro World Games comes to Utah.

“Utah is the home and birthplace of Nitro Circus,” said Pastrana. “In our early days, Godfrey Trucking here in Utah hosted several freestyle motocross competitions and it grew from there. The Utah Sports Commission has always gone out of their way to help us grow and to promote what we do.

"Everyone in the community and even the state leadership, including governors Huntsman and Herbert have always supported us and have gone out of their way to help us with our growth and future goals," said Pastrana.

The Nitro World Games will air in primetime in the U.S. on NBC, and will feature the best action sports athletes in FMX, BMX, skate, scooter and inline disciplines. More than 100 of the best riders on the planet will compete for a chance be the first-ever Nitro World Champion.

“What is interesting about the Utah market is that as we tour worldwide there are always huge crowds that come to see us, but they are excited about anything and everything. Utah fans expect the best," said Pastrana.

"You can just showcase a single backflip or a whip, you cannot pull of sheet over their eyes, they want progression and that’s what we are going to give them Saturday night.”
