Letter: Bikers on roads

Centerville City Councilman Bill Ince's comment that cyclists should be run off the road was hurtful and ignorant. He made it worse by denying the statement until he was faced with recorded proof of his remark. It was also very disappointing coming from an elected official who speaks not only for himself, but for his constituents. I encourage Centerville residents and the City Council to approve their planned bicycle lanes, not only for the benefit of cyclists who use them but also for the motorists that share the same roads. The financial cost pales in comparison with the loss of life when a cyclist is hit by a car. I wouldn't wish the pain and sorrow on any other family like mine went through after my husband was killed when he was "run off the road" by a careless driver.
