SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz announced Friday the signing of 2016 second-round pick Joel Bolomboy. Bolomboy (6-9, 235) played at Weber State University where he averaged 17.1 points and 12.6 rebounds per game. During his senior year he set a single-season record for grabbing 415 rebounds. He earned the 2016 Big Sky Conference Most Valuable Player.
Bolomboy played with the Jazz summer league team both at the 2016 Utah Jazz Summer league tournament and NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Bolomboy averaged 7.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assist in the nine games he played. In the team's final summer league game he lead the Jazz in scoring. He recorded 20 points and added seven rebounds.
As per team policy, terms of the deal weren’t announced. The Utah Jazz open preseason play against the Portland Trailblazers on Monday, Oct. 3, in Portland. Bolomboy will face Damian Lillard, also a Weber State University graduate.
