In recent weeks, Mountain Crest guard Jaxon Brenchley has received scholarship offers from a number of Ivy League schools, but on Wednesday, he decided he wants to play college basketball close to home.

The 6-foot-4 Brenchley announced via Twitter his commitment to the University of Utah. He'll be a senior for the Mustangs this season.

As a junior, Brenchley averaged 18.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and five assists per game.

In addition to the offers he had received from Pennsylvania and Cornell this summer, he also had offers from Utah State, UVU, Santa Clara and UC Davis.

Brenchley did not immediately return a message seeking additional comment.
