The stakes:

For Weber State... The Wildcats are looking to start off the season with a bang by beating an FBS opponent.

For Utah State... After narrowly escaping with a 12-9 win over FCS opponent Southern Utah in the 2015 season opener, the Aggies will be looking to get off to a better start in 2016.

The trends:

For Weber State: The Wildcats are aiming for a second consecutive winning season in 2016 after a stretch of four-straight losing seasons.

For Utah State: The Aggies have won nine-straight games against FCS opponents, all of which were from the Big Sky Conference.

The crystal ball:

Weber State will win if ... Senior quarterback Jadrian Clark can exploit a somewhat unproven Aggie defensive front, particularly the linebackers.

Utah State will win if ... Its offense can march smoothly with quarterback Kent Myers and running back Devante Mays leading the way.

Player to watch

KENT MYERS, Utah State quarterback: Although Myers isn’t a stranger to the field, the signal-caller job is now all his after the graduation of Chuckie Keeton.

Key matchup

WEBER STATE DEFENSIVE LINE vs. UTAH STATE OFFENSIVE LINE: The Wildcats are going to have to keep the game ugly to stay in it, meaning they’ll have to have success in the trenches.

Next up

Both teams will be on the road Sept. 10, with the Aggies facing USC and the Wildcats squaring off against South Dakota.
