I feel like we’ve got to come out and act like we’re one of the best offenses in the nation instead of just going out there and playing. – Darren Carrington
SALT LAKE CITY – Darren Carrington isn’t sure why Utah’s offense has trouble in the red zone, but he believes they can learn something from the Ute defense.
“I feel like our defense is already playing like they feel like they’re the best defense in the nation,” he said. “They come every drive ready to get a stop.”
He said if the offense needs to do its part to help the Utes win those close games.
“I don’t think we should have lost that game,” he said. “I feel like we couldn’t execute. That’s my biggest thing. We’ve got to execute what coach is calling. We can’t get that close to the end zone and not score.”
Carrington said confidence is key in the offense’s ability to overcome this issue.
“I mean, we can’t keep putting our defense back on the field in like 50 seconds or 40 seconds,” Carrington said. “I feel like we’ve got to come out and act like we’re one of the best offenses in the nation instead of just going out there and playing. Come out and act like we’re one of the best. That’s what our defense is doing.”
