Twitter reacts to Ty Detmer's ouster as BYU's offensive coordinator

As news broke Monday morning that BYU has relieved offensive coordinator Ty Detmer of his duties, many different groups of people shared their reactions on Twitter.

BYU fans

Cougar fans expressed a wide variety of emotions, from sadness that Detmer is out as offensive coordinator to happiness that change was made after a 2017 season that saw BYU go 4-9.

Wow, BYU fired Ty Detmer as OC, that's like Apple firing Steve Jobs. The problem with hiring legends, is that you might have to fire them at some point. Curious how this will be perceived at BYU, seems a very suspect move.

I don't think firing Ty Detmer is going to solve a whole lot. He struggled at times, yes, but the offensive problem is much bigger than just him.

A number of people immediately speculated that Aaron Roderick, who played for the Cougars and was most recently the offensive coordinator at Utah, will replace Detmer.

Remember to those who'll inevitably freak out at the inevitable hiring of Aaron Roderick hiring. His offenses avg more pts, yards than Ty's. Granted just about anybody hired probably would.
