Texas two step: BYU receives commitment from Lone Star state QB, East OL commits to Longhorns

The states of Utah and Texas have come together twice over the last three days in the college football recruiting game.

First, quarterback Stacy Conner of Wylie High School in Dallas committed to BYU on Saturday, and then on Monday night, East offensive lineman Junior Angilau pledged to the University of Texas, according to's Blair Angulo.

Both players are part of the Class of 2018.

A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Conner's recruiting process has been an interesting one. The 6-foot-5, 175-pounder committed to Texas State last October but then switched his pledge to UNLV in April.

He took an official visit to the BYU campus last weekend.

Angilau is considered one of the top offensive linemen in the country and had offers from teams from the Pac-12 to the SEC.

He was named a U.S. Army All-American during the 2017 season and becomes the second Leopard lineman to commit to a Power 5 school over the past few days after Sam Taimani pledged to Washington on Saturday.
