SPRINGVILLE — Police are investigating why a man lost control of his southbound car on I-15 Wednesday afternoon, winding up sideways across the lanes and being broadsided by a pickup truck pulling a trailer.
According to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce, weather is not believed to have played a role as the winter storm had not arrived at the time of the 1:15 p.m. accident. The southbound truck hit the car on the driver's side door, killing him on impact, he said.
Royce said the driver of the car was believed to be in his late teens or early 20s. His name was not released as authorities try to contact next of kin. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.
No other injuries were reported.
The accident remains under investigation.
