SPRINGVILLE — Community Emergency Response Team classes will be offered starting Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. The eight-week course will be taught at the Springville Fire Station, 75 W. Center.

Cost is $25 per person or $40 per couple. The cost includes a manual, helmet and vest, as well as various handouts.

Topics that will be covered in the class include: first aid; safe search and rescue practices; fire suppression; how to shelter in place; team organization and leadership; and how to handle the psychology of disaster situations.

The final class will be a disaster simulation that will give all participants an opportunity to try their skills in responding to a realistic disaster situation.
