The University of Utah will be well-represented at this year's NFL Scouting Combine, with eight players who suited for the team last year headed to the event and another who transferred from Utah in 2016 after three years at the school.
The official list of invitees was announced by the NFL Wednesday and BYU also has two representatives who will participate in the 2017 combine, which runs from Feb. 28-March 6 in Indianapolis.
The Utes' representatives include defensive back Brian Allen, offensive guard Isaac Asiata, offensive tackle Garett Bolles, center J.J. Dielman, defensive lineman Pita Taumoepenu, offensive tackle Sam Tevi, running back Joe Williams and safety Marcus Williams.
Nose tackle Stevie Tu’ikolovatu, who played at Utah from 2013-15 with a redshirt year in 2009 before heading to USC as a graduate transfer in 2016, will also be there.
The Cougars' representatives include linebacker Harvey Langi and running back Jamaal Williams.
The Utes' eight representatives at this year's combine ties them with USC for the most among Pac-12 schools. Notably absent from Utah is defensive end Hunter Dimick, who led the nation in sacks (14.0) and sacks per game (1.27) last season and was a Bednarik Award semifinalist, but wasn't invited to the combine.
The 11 local ties at this year's combine are down from 13 last season when Utah had six, Southern Utah and Utah State had three and BYU had one. In 2015, only six locals headed to the combine.
The highest number of locals in recent years came in 2014 when 16 Utah ties made it to the combine, including five each from Utah and BYU, four from Utah State, one from Dixie State and a former Utah high schooler.
Of this year's locals headed to the combine, four played their high school ball in the state of Utah, including Bolles (Westlake High), Taumoepenu (Timpview High), Tu'ikolovatu (East High) and Langi (Bingham High).
Bolles and Marcus Williams left college a year early to enter the 2017 NFL draft, which will take place April 27-29 in Philadelphia. Both have been projected as early-round picks, with Bolles showing up in the first round of most national mock drafts.
