PROVO — BYU used a solid showing throughout to beat the San Diego Toreros 82-70 on Thursday night at the Marriott Center.
The Cougars opened up an 18-point lead in the first half before seeing it get cut to seven at intermission. Dave Rose's club stretched the lead back to 11 early in the second half, however, and it stayed in double digits over the final 10:44 of the night.
Numbers
• BYU committed just six turnovers compared to 11 for San Diego.
• The Cougars made 22 free throws while the Toreros made just 12.
• All five BYU starters finished in double figures. Three San Diego players did.

BYU: Nick Emery led all scorers with 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field.
San Diego: Brett Bailey and Olin Carter III both scored 21 points.
