Amy Meyer and Jeremy Beckham, of the Utah Animal Rights Coalition, hold Ellie, a 9-year-old beagle rescued through the Beagle Freedom Project, during the annual Nonprofit Day on the Hill at the Capitol in Salt Lake City on Thursday. For the past nine years, the Utah Nonprofits Association has organized the event to educate Utah's policymakers on the breadth and depth of Utah's social sector, to help the association's members understand the importance of their voice in the policymaking process and to provide training on how to make their voice heard. The Utah Animal Rights Coalition is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to promoting veganism and ending cruelty to animals.
