OREM — Police are investigating whether a Mapleton woman's car spun out and stalled on the freeway Monday, leading to a deadly collision on I-15.

Leilani K. White, 37, died Monday after her northbound Nissan Sentra was rear-ended in the center lane of I-15 by a box truck, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.

White's vehicle was either traveling very slowly or was stopped during Monday's heavy snowstorm, according to UHP. Investigators say the car may have spun out and become disabled in the center lane.

White was taken to Timpanogos Regional Hospital where she later died.

The accident, which occurred near Center Street in Orem, was one of dozens of wrecks that happened Monday as the storm slammed Utah County. A 17-car pileup on northbound I-15 near University Avenue in Provo closed all lanes and wasn't fully cleared for two hours, the Utah Department of Transportation reported.

Snowy weather that was considered a factor in more than three dozen crashes in the county, according to UHP.
