The iconic Moroni statue that tops all but 11 LDS temples is returning to the top of the Idaho Falls temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The temple, currently undergoing a renovation, was the eighth temple of the church, and the first temple in Idaho. It was originally dedicated in 1945. However, the Moroni statue was not placed on the temple until 1983.
The statue was removed last Wednesday as part of the temple renovation, according to EastIdahoNews.com. EastIdahoNews.com has a Facebook Live video of the large crane installing the statue.
The temple, closed since March 2015, will open to the public Saturday, April 22, through Saturday, May 20, except Sundays. It will be rededicated on Sunday, June 4, 2017, in three sessions.
