FAYETTE, Juab County — Rescue officials rescued one man missing overnight on Yuba Lake and recovered the body of another.

The two Minsersville men had been out on the lake in a fishing boat Sunday when they were reported overdue, Juab County Sheriff Doug Anderson said.

Michael Skinner and Cress Lorenzo, both 64, were due back at 10 p.m. but didn't return. Their truck and boat trailer were found still parked at the Yuba State Park launch ramp.

A responding deputy from the Juab County Sheriff's Office met with the wives of the two men, who had come to the lake, and joined searchers as they headed out. The deputy and searchers located the small aluminum boat capsized offshore with no one nearby, according to Anderson.

From there, a helicopter search spotted Lorenzo, who had swam to the shore east of Yuba Dam, Anderson said.

Lorenzo was experiencing a diabetic condition and hypothermia, Anderson said. He was rushed by medical helicopter to Provo in critical condition but later upgraded to good condition.

Search and rescue crews from various agencies located Skinner's body about 5:45 p.m., about 50 yards from where Lorenzo had been found, Anderson said.

Anderson said Lorenzo told rescuers his boat had capsized about 5 p.m. Sunday. At the time, Anderson said 25 mph winds were recorded on the lake.

Lorenzo swam to the shore after the boat capsized, while Skinner remained with the boat, according to the sheriff. The water was about 15 deep where he was found, Anderson said.

He added that the men had life jackets with them but weren't wearing them when the boat capsized.

In addition to Juab County officials, an AirMed helicopter and dive teams from Sanpete and Wasatch counties and the Department of Public Safety contributed to the search.
