MILLCREEK — Police are looking for a man they believe was involved in a hit-and-run crash in a stolen vehicle who then brandished a gun at witnesses as he ran away.

Just after 10 a.m. Thursday, a police officer checking license plates on vehicles in the area of 7200 South and 250 West came across one that had been reported as stolen, said Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke.

When the officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, the driver sped away, Lohrke said.

A few minutes later, a hit-and-run was reported involving the same vehicle near 4100 S. Main. The driver of the stolen vehicle sideswiped another vehicle, Lohrke said. No one was injured in the incident, he said.

"The suspect jumped out of the car, brandished a handgun at one of the witnesses and fled," Lohrke said.

Police were searching the area for the man Thursday. He's described as about 5 feet 6 inches tall, with an olive complexion and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, khaki shorts and sandals.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 801-799-3000. The man should be considered armed and dangerous, according to police.
