PROVO — A 6-year-old girl was killed and two other people were injured Saturday afternoon when a car veered off the road and crashed into a parked vehicle, police said.
The girl was standing by the parked car near 2900 W. Center with her 5-year-old cousin and their grandfather about 3 p.m. when the 18-year-old driver crashed into them, Provo police said. All three were taken to an area hospital, where the girl died.
The cousin and grandfather remained hospitalized in critical condition Sunday.
Police have not released the names of the girl and her injured relatives.
According to police, the 18-year-old had been driving west on Center Street before veering off the road. Police do not believe the teen was driving under the influence, but suspect drowsiness contributed to the tragic crash.
