SANDY — Sitting in second place in the Western Conference of the USL with an 11-1-0 record, and having played two less games than first-place San Antonio FC, the Real Monarchs look to set the USL's consecutive wins record Monday.
Playing against expansion team Reno 1868 at Rio Tinto Stadium, the team has a chance to win its ninth straight game, and break the record of eight set by Orlando City SC in 2014.
Reno has had, to this point, a quality run of play as well, winning four and drawing two of its last five games.
Beside setting the overall wins record, a victory tonight for the Monarchs would extend this season's undefeated streak at home, pushing it to seven straight matches.
In the team's third season, the Monarchs have already eclipsed their 2016 campaign, which ended with just ten wins.
The last meeting between the two teams came on April 6. Five different Monarchs players scored as the team defeated Reno 5-3 at Rio Tinto.
