Jacob Boyce leads UGA Mid-Amateur Championship by one over Dan Horner

Jacob Boyce fired rounds of 66 and 68 Monday to take a one-stroke lead into the final round of the UGA Mid-Amateur Championship at Wasatch Mountain State Park Golf Course for non-college golfers 25 and older.

Boyce’s 134 total puts him a stroke ahead of former State Amateur champion Dan Horner and two shots ahead of two-time State Am champ Jon Wright and 1998 State Am champ Darrin Overson. Four golfers, Ron Davis, Brigham Gibbs, Preston Alder and Derek Squire are three strokes off the lead at 137.

Wright and Overson are tied for the Masters Division (40-49) lead, while Gibbs and Davis are tied for the lead in the Senior Division (50 and older).

The field was cut to the low 40 and ties and those players will tee off between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
