Dehlin and Sloot team to win Utah Women's Four-Ball golf title

SALT LAKE CITY — Carly Dehlin and Jessica Sloot came from behind on the second day to win the Utah Women’s Fourball Championship by one shot over Sadie Palmer and Randi Stephens.

Dehlin, who plays for Utah Valley and Sloot, who plays for Colorado State, teamed for a 66 at Rose Park Golf Course Thursday and a 133 total to defeat Palmer and Stephens, who had shot 66 in the first round at Mountain Dell Golf Course. The highlight of the winners’ round was a hole-out by Sloot from 130 yards on the No. 3 hole.

Sue Nyhus and Kari Lawrence won the net division with a 128 total after two rounds of 64, one shot ahead of Karen Valcarce and Cassandra Campos.

Flight 2 gross winners were Joanne Kim and Maria Newton at 152, while Louisa Piper and Kathryn Casull won the net division at 122. Keely Shurtz and Amy Griffin won Flight 3 gross division, while Brenda Paris and Pamela Jones were net winners at 127. The shot of the day was by Cheryl Mason, who made a hole-in-one at the par-3 No. 11 from 122 yards out.
